Christmas Party 2011
Christmas Party thanks,
Well, we had another Skis n’ Tees Christmas Party that was a pleasure to be a part of. I believe we had a nice selection of baskets for our Raffle that I’m embarrassed to say that I won a few myself (it wasn’t fixed!). Thanks Ann for being our basket passer outer. There are many people I would like to thank for the baskets such as June Brent for the golf cubs. Don Shelly for all the booze, along with Linda Frost for the wine. Thanks Alice McGee for all the dishes, golf stuff and coffee cups with candy. Also, Bob and Linda Nicolai for the Jack Daniels that we know that Mark Shearer would have liked to have won (so sad he didn’t), and the chef’s hat they got for Dave Kaczor. Thanks Jan Jan for her baskets, a mini bottle Basket of Cheer, the Margarita Basket with a S’mores maker and also Moe for her little golf basket. Also, we had the honor to have a copy of our own author’s book from Patti Sablacan and the very important tin of cookies from our own cookie lady, Marie. We also have special thanks to Teri’s mom Irene for helping wrap all the baskets that Teri and I had no idea how to. Teri and I did donate a few items also. I would also like to thank Jim for reading the toast I wrote for our very special friend we lost this last summer, Lorraine. I would like to take Jan Jan for the center pieces she got with photos of Lorraine. Lorrain always donated the center pieces every year. A lot of other people helped out, Moe, Jan and Georgette worked the door and sold tickets. June and Linda collected the toys and delivered them to the Goodfellows. I’m a very lucky person to have all of you for my friends. We are all very lucky to have a nice group of friend that we have. We had a great Christmas party and it was because all of us were a part of it.
Skis ‘n Tees received a Thank You Card From the Eastpointe Goodfellows for Our donation of Toys for Needy Children.
Thanks to June Brent & Linda McGinnis For Delivering the Toys.
Christmas Caroling
Music to their Ears… Christmas Caroling at Farmington Hills Inn On December 3rd, 12 “volunteer singers” came together at Farmington Hills Inn to bring a little Christmas joy to the residents. Since Connie’s mom is a resident there, she was kind enough to arrange the time, place and even brought Conrad, some friends and Mark, the piano player, to help make the day a success. We were all grateful for the piano player who kept us in tune as we “sang our little hearts out”. My brother, Ed, was Santa who brought my sister-in-law, Karen, with him. Other singers included Don “the Elf” Shelly, Georgette (complete with candy canesJ), Nancy and Tom Bobee, Jim, Marie and Marie’s Dad, Bill. Santa put the “jingle in jingle bells” while visiting the residents. After the singing, he passed out candy canes with “the Elf” assisting, while the aides passed out cookies and punch. We almost had a guitar accompaniment (Luke, the son of the piano player) but he opted to wait in the car. He could not hide from Santa, however, and had a photo opportunity in the parking lot with SantaJ. From the smiles on their faces while they joined us in song and the words of appreciation from the residents and their family members who attended, we could tell they had fun! I am truly grateful to all who came to spread some holiday cheer and fulfill my wish for caroling during the holidays! Sincerely, the Cookie Lady, Marie
